Play Date Rules of Play
  1. All games will be 8 v 8 (7 and Goalie)
  2. Games will be two 18-20 minute halves with 5 minute break. Please make sure that your team is ready to play at the scheduled time and clears the field inmediately after the end of the game. Play Date events are run on a tight centralized schedule.
  3. All games will be played on a U8-10 appropriate size field. General guidelines given to hosting clubs are 70x40, but sometimes can be slightly smaller or larger. Appropriate size goals are available in most Play date events by now.
  4. List of accepted teams will be posted online and schedules will be provided, also online, five days prior to the Play Date event
  5. Games will be scheduled on a Sunday - each team needs to play the three games scheduled in the day.
  6. All teams will need USCS player passes (mandatory) and a printed roster (optional) in order to play. Please check out the article under ’Check in Procedures’ for more details. No guest players allowed.
  7. All throw-ins must be done correctly, but at the discretion of the referee a re-throw can be granted.
  8. Penalty kicks will be allowed.
  9. All major and technical fouls will be enforced resulting in direct free kick or indirect free kick as appropriate.
  10. Offside will be enforced.
  11. Either team may substitute on any stoppage, subject to the referee’s approval.
  12. Goal kicks may be taken from any point within the penalty box in order to keep the game flowing, unless both coaches agree otherwise in advance with the referee.
  13. All efforts will be made to try to place teams in the appropriate bracket of play, but in the event of an uneven game, please try to avoid running up the score and keep the spirit of good sportsmanship throughout the day, emphasis should be placed on safety and player development above anything else at this young age.
  14. No trophies will be awarded at Play Date events. 
  15. Referees, while respecting the Laws of the Game, will do their best to keep the game flowing, simple and fun.
