UNDER 15 TO UNDER 18: 2008 NORCAL STATE CUPS – AN UPDATE |

While NorCal personnel have been busy organizing the over 500 teams registered in the Under 14 and below 2008 NorCal State Cup(s), the NorCal Board of Directors and the League Manager have been thinking about the Under 15 and above. Here are some new and immediate policy changes for 2008:
- Registration fee reduced to $200 for all U15 to U18 teams!
- All revenue from these age groups – minus field and referee costs for semi-finals and finals – will be distributed to the 8 Premier Champions in all U15 to U18 age/gender divisions - to help defray some of the costs of representing their Club (and NorCal) at the 2009 Surf Cup.
- A formula will be developed to reward the larger divisions, e.g. an age/gender Championship team in a division with 20 teams will receive twice as much from the fund (already at $6,200) as a team in a 10 team division.
- Norcal will carefully monitor all aspects of Sportsmanship to insure that this plan - which has worked well in an adult age group for a National Cup - does not generate cheating or poor sportsmanship. Teams and Clubs that do not exhibit the highest level of proper behavior will not share any income generated by this plan!
- Registration deadline extended to August 4th, 2008
