Today, we post for the first time the NorCal State Cup(s) application page and time-line for ages fifteen and above. This is another step in which NorCal continues to add events and ages that will enable the most devoted young and older soccer players in Northern California to join the rest of the world and have a lifetime of soccer experiences as player, coach, manager, Club member, and most importantly – fan and supporter of our wonderful sport! In the past, out of consideration for the Clubs and teams with dual NorCal and CYSA membership, we have carefully avoided designing schedules that created conflicts for our member Clubs and teams. We will do this during year one for the Older NorCal State Cup to allow all teams the chance to compete. For the older age groups, we are unable to design a schedule that will not create the need for at least some teams to make choices. There are too many soccer and non-soccer events to create a schedule that will miss all of them. We have carefully avoided the different High School seasons to eliminate any conflicts. During the time their season is held, those teams will not be competing allowing all teams to participate in the NorCal State Cup(s). Upon registering teams must write, in their team history, their high school season time line. The teams will compete in their group play against other teams with the same high school calendar - during the time they have a break from high school soccer. Upon the completion of the official high school soccer season, in March, the teams will compete on a state wide basis – based on their results in their group play. The preliminary games will continue to be played in a manner that provides both some certainty as to period of time, but also flexibility when needed for acceptable reasons. It is the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals that must have set dates for which teams can plan as settled. These dates will be set once the CYSA state calendar is set. We will schedule around the CYSA state cup calendar to ensure the teams do not have to make a choice between the two competitions. Finally, we are very pleased to be able to offer the winning teams of our top cup automatic entry into the Surf Cup. We are also in contact with other top College Showcase Events in the west to secure the same consideration. FormatTeams will be seeded and placed in groups of four based on their high school soccer seasons and their region.Each team will play 2-3 group matches, over a 2-3 month span. Depending on the number of teams entered teams will advance to either Premier Cup, Gold Cup, Silver Cup group play( 2-3 games) or they will advance directly to the quarter finals. Timeline:September thru November – Three games in Group Play for teams not in High School SoccerDecember thru February – Three games in Group Play for teams not in High School Soccer March thru May – Quarters, Semi’s and State Cup Finals – dates to work around CYSA State Cup For example: If the U14 – 15 boys and girls and U17 -18’s girls are the first weekend in April we will schedule the opposite.
