NorCal proudly presents: The 2008 Under 9-10 NorCal State Cups(s):
Sunday, 13 April 2008
Registration is now open for the 2008 Under 9 and Under 10 Girls and Boys NorCal State Cup(s). We recommend that new teams and Clubs apply early.

The NorCal Board of Directors deserves great credit for overseeing an organization that enables this type of tournament to evolve over time. NorCal also appreciates the many coaches and managers who have given constructive suggestions and advice.

NorCal has been told by knowledgeable soccer personalities that this format is the most creative tournament format of which they are aware. For this reason in 2008,  it has been extended to the Under 11 and 12 Age Groups.

Every team that enters will be guaranteed at least 7 games including a quarter-final (final 8) in a Championship Round at a Central Location. See various formats (24 to 64 teams and more being designed) here.

All teams will be seeded and then play 3 Regional games (a few teams might have to play out of Region) for further seeding.

All teams will play 3 games (2 Saturday; 1 Sunday) at the State Seeding Round and  after re-ranking a quarter-final game on Sunday afternoon - November 15th and 16th, 2008! All Clubs must certify that all of their teams are 100% certain they can play all centrally located games without conflicts created by other soccer entities.

Girls, Under 9 and 10: Granite Park, Sacramento, California
Boys Under 9: Mustang Soccer Complexes, Danville, California
Boys Under 10: Woodward Park, Manteca California
All 4 age/gender groups:  Semi-finals: Saturday, November 22nd – Woodward Park
All 4 age/gender groups: Finals: Saturday, November 23rd – Woodward Park
Makeup week-end in case of rain: Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th

What will now be known as the “Under 12 NorCal State Cup(s) Tournament Format” is a finely tuned process that only works well for “groups of 8”  – 24 to infinity.  For this reason,  under certain circumstances, there might need to be a playoff to determine which team(s) will enter into one of those “groups of 8.

If the number of teams that enter is not a number divisible by 8, the following rules will be applied – after NorCal has made great efforts to add teams to reach the required number.

1. All returning (prior to 2008 Spring League) teams will be accepted
2. All teams of a returning (prior to 2008 Spring Legue) Club will be accepted
3.The needed number of the lowest seeds that registered  at the latest time will have a centrally located playoff to determine the teams that will be accepted into the pool. For example, if  74 team have applied – the lowest 4 seeds (new teams and Clubs to NorCal)  that were the latest to apply will play a 3 game round robin to determine which 2 teams enter.
The NorCal Administrative application page shows the exact minute and date a team applies for admission.
4. The teams eliminated will receive our regrets, a complete refund and guaranteed acceptance for all of their Club teams into all future Cup(s).
5. NorCal apologizes for this necessary process in advance, but in 2007 there were two groups of 42 and they did not work smoothly; and although we tried for a month we could not find an additional 6 teams to enter.

Teams that drop before the deadline will always receive an immediate full refund! $50 of the registration fee will be placed in the Norcal Player Development Fund or the Coaches Education Fund.
