Training - Training emphasis should be placed on TIPS – Technique, Insight, Personality and Speed. Remember- * Training is the foundation of success * Training Builds habits * Training requires - Repetition of the basics * Training requires - 100% effort from each coach, each player and each team Trainings Philosophy – Practice makes permanent! · Short and sharp with game like intensity · Repetition, repetition, repetition · Trainings should have few pauses, small lines and high energy · Coaches should avoid talking for long periods of time and should utilize the Socratic Method when speaking to the players · Trainings should be intensive (most of the time) and use repetition to improve players and teams. Training Content · Planning practices with proper emphasis on TIPS according to age and level. · Long term vision focused on season goals along with attention to immediate issues · Pay attention to the details · Demand from yourself and your players 100% effort. Coach at training · Coaches should briefly explain the purpose of the training at the beginning of each session and review the session at the end – one minute or less! · Player should be aware of and actively trying to improve the areas being worked on during training · Homework should be given relating to the level of the players and the current topics being trained. |
