Norcal Premier Soccer League would like to thank all the teams who have participated in the 2007 U9 - 10 Play Dates. The aim of the Norcal Premier Play Dates is to provide teams and players a positive day of soccer excitement, with a tournament like atmosphere, without passing on to the parents - the cost and time of a tournament. We will not lie, this was not an original idea. We borrowed the idea from Holland and adapted the concept to our situation. In fact, you will find many of our programs such as the Norcal State Cup, the Norcal Premier Leagues, the Player Development Program and our Coaches Education Program are influenced and in some way modeled after looking at the successful soccer programs of other countries throughout the world . We figure if it is a good idea in a country with a long history of success in soccer, it will probably have some parts we can adapt and adopt for the betterment of soccer players, teams and clubs in Northern California. We believe a good soccer game is one that both teams have a chance to win. We believe this is best for a team’s and player’s development. We also believe it is good for teams to have a chance, when possible to play a varying array of teams. For these reasons we tried, as much as possible, to use results of previous play dates to seed the teams while trying to schedule some new opponents. We hope this gave teams varied opponents with a similar level of play – in most games. We would like to thank Andres Deza for his efforts on behalf of Norcal Premier Soccer Play Days and soccer in general. Also to be thanked are Julie Padilla, Angie Parhman, and Shawna Ziemer for their organizing efforts on behalf of the hosting clubs. We would like to thank Sacramento United, Manteca Futbol Club, Sonoma County Alliance and Sonoma State Univesity for hosting the Norcal Premier Play Days. Finally, we would like to thank the parents who drive their kids to these days and provide a positive introduction to Competitive Club Soccer. We thank all of you and hope everyone involved has many more years of enjoyment though soccer! The Norcal Premier Board of Directors |
